What are Clear Aligners?

Clear aligners are orthodontic devices made of clear plastic placed over a patient's teeth to guide them into position sequentially — applying gentle, consistent force without brackets or wires.
How long should aligners be worn each day?

Patients should wear aligners 20–22 hours per day, removing them only for eating, drinking anything other than cool water, and oral hygiene.
How long should a single set of aligners be worn?
+
We recommend starting with a 14-day wear cycle. For healthy, compliant patients, this can be reduced to 10 or 7 days. In other situations, wear cycles may be extended. Guidance is included with each treatment plan.
Does IDL provide a 3D simulation of the treatment?

Yes. We provide a full 3D treatment plan visualization once the design is complete. Doctors can review staged movement and request revisions before approving fabrication.
Does IDL incorporate attachments and IPR?

Yes. Most plans include attachments for movement predictability. IPR is used where clinically appropriate but applied conservatively. You can specify your preferences during case submission.
Does IDL charge for treatment plans?

No. Case submission and treatment plan generation are always complimentary. You are only invoiced at the point of approving the plan for manufacturing.
Can a general dentist bill insurance for clear aligners?

Yes. All licensed dentists can bill under the orthodontic benefit. Note that ortho benefits typically carry a separate lifetime maximum and deductible. Verify each patient's coverage before starting treatment.
What intraoral scanners do you accept?

We accept all major intraoral scanners — iTero, TRIOS, Medit, CEREC, Dexis, Owandy, Planmeca, 3M, and more — plus raw STL/PLY uploads and traditional impressions with bite registration.
